Is Consumer Credit Really That Important?
Your Credit Scores
can Make You or Break You.

You may not realize how much of a role consumer credit plays in your life. Your reputation and credit-worthiness are major factors in determining whether a bank will grant you a loan. And how you manage your finances has a huge impact on whether your credit is considered good or bad.

Do you know your true credit score? You had better! Knowing your credit score is crucial to your financial survival.

Good consumer credit means having a history of prompt payments. You’ve demonstrated your ability to manage your finances. When you have good credit, banks will lend because they’re confident you’ll pay them back. You can obtain loans with the most favorable terms and lowest available interest rates.

On the other hand, you are judged to have bad credit when you borrow too much and too often, don’t pay your bills by their due date, and are unable to pay back your loans in full. If your consumer credit is considered poor, you’ll have difficulty obtaining virtually any type of loan. You’ll find car loans, personal loans, and even credit cards, beyond your reach. And of course, getting a mortgage with favorable terms is highly unlikely.

Poor credit will affect much more than your ability to borrow. Before renting you an apartment, landlords check your credit to see how likely you are to pay your rent on time. Before hiring you, employers check credit as an indication of your character and trustworthiness. Your credit rating can even effect what you pay for insurance, utilities, and a cell phone!

BOTTOM LINE: If you have bad credit, you’ll pay more for virtually everything!

Every month, tens of thousands of credit grantors – also known as creditors – provide updated information on millions of people to the three credit reporting agencies. These three credit agencies are Experian (formerly TRW), Trans Union, and Equifax. These repositories are essentially clearing houses that collect pertinent data on virtually every adult in the United States. Click here for details on what is contained within your credit report.

Today, credit scores are widely used to determine a borrower’s level of risk. Credit decisions have been streamlined from a complicated analysis of your credit report, to simply looking at a credit score. Click here to learn more about credit scores.

If your credit scores are lower than you’d like them to be, there are some simple and effective ways to improve your credit.

But be forewarned. Although improving your consumer credit is possible, it can be a bit tedious and it won’t happen overnight. Improving your credit score will take some time and effort. There is no quick fix.

There are many “credit repair” companies that will gladly provide this service for a fee. But you can just as easily perform these tasks yourself. Many of these secrets are revealed within the pages of my book, “The More I Make, The More My Wife Spends! – The Couple’s Guide to Financial Freedom AND a Happy Marriage.” Click here to purchase a copy.
